Kenyans were glad to hear the good news that the most powerful man in the world who is actually the son of the land was coming back home before his term as the US President ends. The news of US President Barack Obama visiting Kenya for the first time as President was received with a lot of jubilation in Nyanza with residents of Kogelo village in Siaya, where his father was born, expecting the US President to visit them.
Nyanza residents have challenged Obama not to restrict himself to Nairobi but visit Kogelo, saying his presence alone will boost the region’s economy even if it is just for a moment.
However, their dreams to host the most powerful man in the world may just be shattered after it emerged that the Kisumu International Airport may not have the capacity to accommodate Air Force One, which carries the US President around the world.
Sources intimated that the Kisumu Airport’s runway may be too small for Air Force One and that Obama cannot risk flying in another plane to Nyanza, including that of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The residents had anticipated Obama to fly directly to Kisumu and have now challenged Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government to expand the airport before July for them to actualize their dream.
Obama’s itinerary is not yet out and it now remains to be seen how things will turn out.
