President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday sacked Secretary to the Cabinet, Francis Kimemia, and replaced him with Dr Monicah Juma who was until her appointment the Principal Secretary in charge of Internal Coordination. Kimemia, who was the most powerful man in former President Mwai Kibaki’s Cabinet, was shown the door in a surprise manner that caught State House operatives unaware.
But why did Uhuru sack Kimemia in such haste? Sources close to the Presidency said that the rain started beating Kimemia when he spoke to journalists last week and openly declared that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, had failed on insecurity.
He also claimed that he would have saved the lives of 147 students who lost their lives in Garrissa University College had his advise been sought. The former Head of Civil Service also said the ‘new guys’ in Government ought to ask him how to deal with terror, a comment which did not go down well with Uhuru and Ruto.
