Renowned scholar and first Kenyan Attorney General, Sir Charles Njonjo, has torn President Uhuru Kenyatta apart in the way he is handling the affairs of the country. Speaking during an interview with the Sunday Nation, Njonjo described Uhuru’s leadership as weak and one that his late father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, would be ashamed of if he rose from the dead.
He said he misses the strong old Government where the President was in control and got things done saying were it Uhuru’s father or even retired President Daniel Arap Moi, the Garissa massacre would not have happened.
Njonjo poked holes into Uhuru’s security intelligence saying they are doing nothing. During their time, they used to know what a husband and wife talked in their bedroom the following day.
“I miss the discipline of that time. I miss the power I had, power that I could use for the common good. I miss the nation that we had then, a strong nation.”
“There is nothing that went on that we didn’t know about; we had the proverbial long arm of the law. We were always two steps ahead; we knew what conversation you had in your house the previous night.”
“What happened in Garissa recently would never have happened because we had total control of security,” said Njonjo.
