According to sources close to the
former First Family, Mama Lucy was admitted at the St Teresa's Ward after
complaining of chest pains during a visit for a routine check-up.
Mama Lucy was spotted entering the
hospital in the morning hours accompanied by her security detail but doctors
advised her to stay so that she can be screened well.
On Wednesday, doctors at the
hospital said the “mother of the nation” was responding well to treatment and
she will be out of hospital in the coming days.
This is the first time the former
First Lady is appearing in public since the promulgation of the constitution in
August 2010.
Speculation had been rife since 2012
that she had died and that the matter was being kept a secret.
However, former President Mwai
Kibaki’s communication team dispelled the rumour and said that Lucy Kibaki was
alive and was in good health.
