1.Deputy Secretary General of COTU, Muchai had fallen out with;
COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, who had threatened his life after he threatened to expose the COTU boss.
2.The other suspect who stands out on this list is Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
Muchai was one of the strongest critics of Kabogo’s administration and he may have been silenced for criticizing the Kiambu County Government’s leadership.Muchai’s trouble with governor Kabogo began in April 2014 when Kiambu governor Willian Kabogo recorded a statement at the Central Police Station following an incident in which he declared and agreed that he had been whipped properly by Muchai!!Muchai is said to have whipped Kabogo on random body parts and struck him 17 times before he escaped.
3.The third suspect is a “jilted husband” who in 2011 accused Muchai of snatching his wife – allegations Muchai denied – but sources said the jilted husband has been sending death threats to Muchai since 2011.
The fact that the killers disappeared with a briefcase from Muchai’s car and seemed to know exactly where it was is one that cannot be overlooked. If someone points out what was in the briefcase, then the motive of the attack may be clear.
Questions are also asked as to why Muchai asked for two bodyguard some days prior to the shooting incident,the officers who assigned two bodyguard instead of one(as is usually the case) must have taken his concerns seriously before doing so,thus they must have leads already to that effect.
