Kenya'sDeputy President William Ruto has for the first time expressed fear over his ongoing case at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking at Sururu, Njoro Constituency, in Nakuru County yesterday, Ruto feared he may be convicted at the ICC thanks to Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, and Baringo Senator, Gideon Moi, among others who are seriously praying for his conviction.
According to the Deputy President, God may decide to answer Isaac and Moi’s prayer for him to be convicted of crime against humanity. Besides, it is a taboo in Kalenjinland for one to wish another bad luck as it always comes to pass.
He said the heightened political activities in parts of Central Rift led by Isaac Ruto and Gideon revolved around his ICC case and that the wish he be jailed for them to take over.
The DP begged the Bomet Governor and his friends to stop wishing bad things to happen to him.
“I know some leaders led by Isaac Ruto and Gideon Moi are praying and fasting so that I may be convicted at the ICC to open a political way for them. I have tried with a lot of difficulty to understand why they are fighting and praying for me to be jailed at the ICC and beg them to stop it, because it is a taboo in the Kalenjin community to wish bad things to happen to your brother,” said Ruto, who was overwhelmed by emotions that he broke down at some point.
