The Kenya National Examination Council has named last year’s top performer in the KCSE exams, Alliance high as one of the secondary schools that have fallen prey to a group of extortionists demanding to be paid huge sums of money to ensure their 2014 results are not cancelled on account of exam irregularities. Alliance high school Principal David Kariuki however denies having been approached by the said extortionists, even as KNEC intensified an internal probe into the alleged scheme.It is said unscrupulous staff at KNEC extort money fro verious schools in the promise of doctering results to give the school better grades.Sometimes they scare them with the possibility of cancelling their exams due to cheating allegations and vulnerable school heads fall prey and pay a lot of money ranging between 250-500k.
