After years of investigations and court battles over the brutal murder of former EMbakasi mp Mugabe were.,justice has been finally served as three men have been handed a death sentence for having killed the former legislature in cold blood.
The judge ruled that the prosecution had proved that James Omondi, Wycliffe Simiyu and Paul Otieno killed Mr Were on January 29, 2008.
“Having analysed the evidence and the accused person’s decision not to ask for mercy, I sentence them to death as prescribed in law,” the Judge ruled.
Ms Mary Wamaitha, who was charged alongside the three men, escaped the death sentence after Justice Kimaru set her free saying there is nothing to link her to the former MP’s murder.
Mr Were was killed by gunmen in Woodley Estate, Nairobi shortly after the 2007 general elections.
